SNMP trap notificationsΒΆ
SNMP trap notifications send alarm/event information to a specified SNMP manager.
To create an SNMP Trap notification, do the following:
Select the Notification Profile you want to add an SNMP Trap notification action to.
Click Actions, and then select SnmpTrap from the dropdown menu.
Enter the host details of the SNMP Trap receiver.
Enter the UDP PORT to which the traps will be sent. The default value is 162.
Enter the COMMUNITY STRING which serves as the authenticator that allows or denies the trap.
Enter a GENERIC ID to categorize the type of trap being sent.
Enter a BINDING OID. The OID is a unique object identifier that specifies which managed object or device is associated with the event.
Hint
The Binding OID is a concatenation of the Generic ID, Enterprise OID, and Specific ID. Make sure that the value you enter in this field matches the values of the three IDs put together.
Enter an ENTERPRISE OID. This serves as an identifier for the source of the trap.
Enter a SPECIFIC ID. This specific ID provides more detailed information that specifies the exact nature of the event.
Add a message variable in the Message field.
Note
%m is the default variable which means that the notification will show the message that appears in the Alarm Monitor page which includes information specific to the Event. You may add other message variables in the Message field. For more information, see the Available Notification Variables page.
Click Add to save the action to the notification profile.
Hint
The values for the Generic ID, Enterprise OID, and Specific ID are obtained from the device manufacturer or software vendor.
