Mapping Objects¶
The Mapping Objects page is used to configure and manage Map Objects for use in Network Maps.
The page’s main view displays all existing Map Objects alongside the following details for each one:
Type (Exporter, user-created/custom, or map/group)
Status
Custom link/URL opened by the object (if defined)
Number of maps/groups the object has been added to
Timestamp when the group was last modified
The table also includes indicator icons for devices/Exporters and groups, as well as the current icons assigned to custom objects.
Configuration tray
Clicking on a Map Object name in the main view opens a configuration tray for the object.
The tray is divided into the following sections:
Properties |
View/edit the object’s basic settings
Note: Properties for maps/groups can also be edited in Map Edit mode or from the Admin > Mapping Groups page.
|
Current Groups |
View/edit the object’s map/group membership |
GPS Location |
Assign a physical address or GPS coordinates to the object (only if the object is a member of a Geographical Map) |
Hint
Map Objects that are used in multiple Geographical Maps will need to have their location information defined for each map, even if the same address/coordinates are used.
Creating new Map Objects
Custom objects can be created via the Admin > Mapping Groups page, as well as the main Monitor > Network Maps page.
Note
Devices/Exporters and other maps/groups are automatically displayed as existing Map Objects.
To create a new custom object, follow these steps:
In the main view, click on the Add (+) button to open the New Object tray.
Use the dropdown to select whether to create an icon- or text-type object.
Enter or select the other properties for the object.
Click apply to save the custom object and close the tray.
After a custom object has been created, it can be added to any number of new or existing maps. Its properties can also be modified at any time via its configuration tray or the main Network Maps page.
